Solar Heated Pool Main Level yes, you read that right...our pool is heated by solar collectors that raise the water temp in the winter as much as 15 degrees Fahrenheit above the air temp... Jimbo did a
unofficial research, and could not find another for anyone interested, here is a little history... on the back terrace of the main level, there is a pool that was built in when the home was built 15 years ago. Jimbo and Karen decided to uncover the pool and offer it to our guests. after an engineering study found the pool will be safe and sound on the cliff, groundbreaking began in April, 2010 and completed in May, 2010... we think Patricio's crew did a FABULOUS job with the pool and the tile surrounding the pool!!! many of our guests on the main level can hardly wait, and often within 10 minutes of their arrival they are laughing and swimming and enjoying the pool and the awesome view of the Caribbean! here it is:
here is a bit of a recap of the construction of the pool... Ground-breaking Friday, April 23rd:
More work on 4-27-10: Hopefully all the work will be completed by this weekend or close to it and we will be able to sit in our new pool looking out over the Caribbean...
Wednesday, April 28th: doesn't seem like much progress today, but there were up to 7 guys working and the were working HARD and fast today. Juan Patricio told me that unless it rains, the pool should be up and running by the end of the week. So after today, here is what it looks like:
Lots of progress on Thursday, April 29th, starting to look like a pool...check it out:
The guys were hard at it on a Saturday...sure looks good to me....here is what it looked like at the end of the day:
On Tuesday at noon, not much left to do now, just finish the tile and treat the cement and we can fill 'er up!
Saturday, May 8th - just some final touches and then we began to fill up the pool - i guess when the water starts to flow, it's officially a pool! Now, all that is left is to install a light in the pool and finish the tile around the perimeter next week!
originally, we chose to stain the concrete brown, and i thought i would like it...turns out i like blue paint WAY better... and now: the finished pool with blue paint:
